An honest comparison

TeamLoop vs. SportsEngine

We build TeamLoop, so read this knowing who wrote it. To keep ourselves honest, this page follows two rules: every statement about SportsEngine is quoted from their own website and linked (retrieved August 11, 2026), and where they haven't published a number, we say so instead of guessing. Everything about TeamLoop is what our own pricing page already tells anyone. One more rule, because SportsEngine is a family of products: every quote below names the exact product it comes from — HQ is their club and league platform, Motion their class and club-fee product.

Start with the price

One of these is a table. The other is — their word — a conversation.

TeamLoop's pricing, in full
StarterFree forever1 team, up to 25 players
Pro$8 / month1 team, everything unlocked
Club$25 / monthUp to 5 teams + club website
Club+$45 / monthUnlimited teams

Priced per organization, not per team — a five-team club on Club pays $25 total. 14-day trial on paid plans, no credit card to start.

What SportsEngine's site shows

For clubs and leagues, their HQ pricing page offers “custom pricing tailored to your structure, size, and goals”, and invites you to “start your custom pricing conversation.”

Their Motion pricing page does publish numbers: “Get started for just $295. No monthly subscription fees” — then “you only pay us when you get paid with a 1% technology fee applied to each transaction”, plus a “2.9% + $0.30 processing fee.”

Exact HQ prices: not published on sportsengine.com as of August 11, 2026.

That's the whole comparison we can responsibly print. Our position is simple: a volunteer club treasurer shouldn't need a sales conversation to find out what software costs.

Your team's money

A percentage of every transaction is still a price.

SportsEngine Motion, in their words
“you only pay us when you get paid with a 1% technology fee applied to each transaction” … “1% technology fee & 2.9% + $0.30 processing fee”

Motion pricing, retrieved August 11, 2026. On $20,000 of season fees, that published 1% is $200 — on top of processing. What HQ charges on payments isn't published on the pages we checked.

TeamLoop

Team fees, invoices, and fundraiser donations are charged on your club's own Stripe account — the money goes straight to your bank, and TeamLoop's cut is 0%. Not 1%, not a technology fee: zero, on every plan. You pay the flat subscription and Stripe's standard processing rate, same as any business pays. On that same $20,000 season, our percentage is $0.

In fairness

SportsEngine operates at a scale we don't.

It's an NBC Sports company with products we simply don't offer — including a background-screening service, which some governing bodies require and which TeamLoop does not provide. Large leagues with compliance requirements standardize on them for reasons that are real. This page is for the club that mostly needs the season to run — schedules out, money collected, families informed — and would rather know the price before the phone call.
